Introduction to Plastics Recycling: Second edition

“Although recycling has a long history, it is only relatively recently that environmental protection and waste management issues have come to the forefront of both public and political awareness. Outside the fields of expertise, generally little is known about either plastics or their recyclability. As in the successful first edition, this book provides straightforward information on plastic materials and technology, including the options for recycling plastics, with special focus on mechanica

Plastic bags-Reusing Plastic Bags from Grocery Store

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Article by Aplasticbag

Everyone who goes to the grocery store or, well, really any kind of store at all, knows that we have a problem with plastic bags. Whether you have a cashier who likes to put only one thing in a bag when they could put more or you just buy a lot of things, the average shopping trip usually nets about ten of these things – and that is a kind estimate. Once you get your purchases home, you realize that you have tons of these things taking up space in your kitchen cabinets or your pantry. Of course, many people re-use them. Recyclable plastic bags are great to use in small trash cans as well as to use to carry things to other places.

The main way that people use recyclable plastic bags is to line their small garbage cans with them. On any given day, I can just about guarantee you that at least 90% of the households in the United States have at least one small trash can with grocery bag lining it. Plastic bags are just perfect for this job because of their handles and their size. The trash cans in, say, the bathroom, do not see a lot of garbage action, so they do not need large trash cans. Also, once the bag is full, all you have to do is pull the handles up and tie them in order to close the bag. It is so simple and convenient.

Promotional plastic bags can also be re-used again for the same purpose they were initially made for: to carry things someplace. Whether you need to return several library books at one time or you need to carry some food items to another place, you can definitely make good use of your grocery plastic bags. Some people even use them to carry their lunch in to go to school or to work. Sure, it is not as glamorous as a fancy lunch bag, but it gets the job done and it helps rid your kitchen of some bag clutter.

Whatever you do, just remember to somehow use your recyclable plastic bags for something. Even if all you do is take them to a place and have the plastic bags recycled, that is okay. All that goes into making these things takes up natural resources and they should not just be thrown away without a thought or a care in the world. So, either use them again for something or take them to your local recycle center and recycle them. Either way, you are doing a good thing. http://www.aplasticbag.com/

Recyclable Plastic Bags- A Popular Branding Tool and More

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Article by Aplasticbag

Thanks to the focus on going green and being more environmentally friendly, recyclable plastic bags are earning a popular space in the world today. Whether it is in the world of shopping or the world of brand awareness, there are many different applications for these plastic bags. One of the most useful and successful duties of these bags is for raising brand awareness in a business. Even a small-town grocery store that offers recyclable plastic bags will increase its brand awareness when people keep the bags and keep coming back to the store again and again.

There are so many different types of organizations that can benefit from bags that are recyclable and reusable. Some companies even use these plastic bags as trade show bags, allowing people to collect goods and information from all over the exposition and then keep the bag that they have collected things in so that they can take everything home. Once they get home, the chances are high that they will keep the bag if it is high quality and continue to use it for a long time to come. That means that every time they use the bag, they will see the branding information of whoever provided the bag to them.

This is called brand awareness. If people can see your brand more often and in easier ways, they are more likely to remember it and come to you in the future for all of their related needs. Of course, when you are handing out reusable or recyclable bags, people also appreciate that you are giving them a useful product that they can get more out of. They see that you care, and that you care about the environment because the bags are recyclable, and that improves their impression of you instantly.

Branding your business is never easy. Whether you are at a trade show or just giving out bags in your neighborhood business, you can count on these recyclable products to help you increase your brand awareness and make people realize that you have something to offer. There are a lot of different ways to use bags for your business, but the fact that they can serve a purpose in holding products and materials and that they can also help increase your marketing and brand awareness is a win-win for any business. When you are looking for the next big marketing ploy, slow down and think about something simple like plastic bags. For more information, visit http://www.aplasticbag.com.

Facts about recycling plastic

Monday, January 9th, 2012

There are various facts about recycling which everyone must know. These recycled products always help the environment and the nature. People usually think that it is better to buy a new product instead of getting it recycled. There are certain facts about recycling which might change this perception of the people. There are few facts about recycling plastic which might amaze many people. These facts about recycling will make the people think that it is better to recycle plastic. These facts are mostly centered on plastic but it is better to have a recycle of each and every product to use and reuse it which might reduce a lot of environmental problems.

The first fact about recycling plastic is that in United States of America every hour more than two and a half millions of plastic bottles are consumed. These plastic bottles are not only the drinking bottles but also the health products, cleansers, oil, lubricant etc.

The important point to note is that most of the bottles are found in a dump.

One of the most important facts about recycling is that plastic rings which hold the soda cans and the plastic garbage bags kill every year almost one million sea dwellers. The reason behind this is that most of the trash is thrown in the ocean, but plastic is lighter in weight hence it floats. While the sea dwellers take a dive sometimes these plastic rings get stuck in their wind pipe and they die. What if this plastic would have been recycled? This was one of the most dreadful facts about recycling plastic.

Alone in United States of America more than twenty five billion products of Styrofoam are dumped in the garbage every year. The dumped product is non biodegradable. Thus the economy must look into the matter of recycling of plastics. There are several facts about recycling which might make you think that it is better to recycle plastic. The best fact is that if we do not burn these plastics and recycle them, it can help the environment in lots of ways.

Firstly the energy used to burn it can be used at some other place. The energy used to recycle the plastic is half of the energy used to burn it. While burning the plastic many toxic elements are released in the atmosphere which might cause harm to it while recycling it will cause no harm.

Author is an expert on the biodegradable products and knows a lot of facts about recycling.

Can you recycle Styrofoam

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

Article by Gehe Rich

These days, most of the electronics come packaged in a big frame manufactured from Styrofoam. A big portion of the community doesn’t think that the Styrofoam can be reused and a lot of pollution can be removed from our planet by recycling Styrofoam. If you really want to find out if Styrofoam is recyclable spend the next ten minutes following my recycling tips. Styrofoam is a man made material that is not biodegradable and it is hard to recycle by the top companies in the world. The manufacturing way makes it very easy to recycle for any purpose. But there is still expectation. You must put your mind to work and think about ideas for all the Styrofoam packaging that you have in your house. Even though the material is not bio-degradable you can use it for other applications. The best way to reuse Styrofoam packaging is to manufacture your own garden pots. You will get the desired shape of your pot by carving the material. This is easy to do because the material is soft. You only need a tool and a little bit of spare time to make a pot. cut the desired design and then make a hole in the bottom. The hole allows the excess water from the flower to drain into the grass. This puncture is really necessary because Styrofoam is water resistant. By designing your own plant pot from Styrofoam you will save money. Another method to reuse foam is to make a handy tool for your house. You can make a small package for your old vinyl records. You will keep them fingerprint free for no money. Also, you can plug items using Styrofoam. You can carve it in the desired shape and stop the wind from coming in your house. Now, let’s go to the money making part. Did you know that there are institutions that pay individuals just for giving their Styrofoam packaging? Now that is a real way to recycle! You just need to go on the net and make an interesting search or two. You will surely find centers near you that will buy your Styrofoam. It is not good to keep the Styrofoam in your living space for no reason because in time it can become a home for all kinds of bugs and also it will begin to accumulate bugs. Just remember to reuse Styrofoam and our planet will be greener. We can do the planet much greener with little steps like the ones stated above.
