The Stackable Recycling Bins
Sunday, May 13th, 2012You have made the decision to do your part for the environment and you are going to recycle. Maybe you have a pick-up service or you are willing to drive to each recycling location in order to drop off your recyclables. Because it is required for every thing to be separated, you will need to decide on the number of bins you need. Many areas have recycling for newspapers, cans, plastic, and glass. Depending on your area they may only provide a pick-up service for two or three, maybe all four.
Now that you know the number of bins you will need, you will need to consider a good location for those bins. You may want to put them close to your trash bin. This will save you time and steps, and make it easier for you to put things in the recycle bin rather than your trash can. It you live in an apartment or a small house, you may have trouble finding the room to place three separate bins close to your garbage can.
There are several different solutions to this problem. You can find the stackable recycle bins or even the ones, which will slide out from under the countertop in one of your kitchen cabinets. You can find the containers for the plastic bags, which will hang on a door or wall as well the ones you can set on your counter or floor. They are narrow and don’t take up a lot of space.
You can get creative when it comes to your recycle bins. You can get just about any type of stackable container to use to put each type of item you are recycling. Just go to your nearest Wal-Mart or Container store and you will be able to find something, which is stackable and can be used for your purposes.
The important thing is that you get involved. Start recycling to save our planet. Just paper alone is about 1/3 of the waste, which goes into our landfills. This is such a shame because there is a demand for recycled paper. It is said recycling paper uses less energy than burning the trees to make new paper. By reusing more of the paper we throw away, it will help prevent the acres of forestland being cleared every year to provide us with more paper.
Stop and consider the number of catalogs you receive every year, especially at Christmas time. Most catalogs companies are not using recycled paper. It wouldn’t hurt for you to contact the companies you receive catalogs from and ask them to start using recycled paper in their catalogs. You don’t know how many other people have made the same request of the same companies. It may only take one or two more people making the request to add to the ones they already have made the same request for at least one of the companies to start using recycled paper in their catalogs.
Recycling the product containers we use on a daily basis is a good way to keep our landfills from overflowing. It doesn’t really take that much effort on your part. It will make you feel better knowing you are helping the best you can to keep our world cleaner for future generations. Also by using less energy we will help stop Global Warming. These things are important to all of us. We may never see the outcome, if nothing ever changes, but out grandchildren and their children will. So chip in and do your part.
